how much hair loss (eg brushing) is normal for a guy with long hair?

I notice everytime I brush my hair or wash my har i seem to have a lot of loose hair on the brush or hands from washing. I have grown my hair long (mid back) over the last 2 years and long hair is new to me so i dunno if thats normal or not My hair reaches mid way down my back
